Students will bring home sample activities to practice skills at home as well as any activities completed during the week.

The teaching calendar will follow the Marion County Public School Calendar for holidays and Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Spring Break.

Kindergarten Program
This is a new program I am starting for kindergarten homeschool students. This program is a full year program and will teach your child everything they need for their first year of homeschool in reading/language arts and math. Students must be at least 5 years old to enroll in this program.
The reading program is designed to work through the year in a similar manner to public schooling, however, I will be incorporating hands on independent learning and group time. I want the students to be able to interact and learn from each other just as much as they learn from me. This will be a small group of students, and for now, will be taught from my home. (NE Ocala) If the program gains interest and I need to move to a bigger place, then I will do so as needed and if feesible.
The program will start each day with calendar and counting the number of days, days of the week etc. Students will first learn the letter sounds and then move into blending and reading words. They will also have a story read to them each day to hear fluent reading examples and to encourage discussion about texts (characters, setting, plot, sequencing etc). They will have writing opportunities as well with different modes such as drawing, painting and coloring. Students learn best when writing and reading are taught together. Each day the students will also be given "station time" which will consist of various activities to practice working with letters and words, fine motor skills, painting/drawing/writing, and interacting with other students. In the beginning this will be more directed and then will transition to allowing them to work within stations more independently. Math skills taught will be counting orally and counting objects, number sense, and eventually adding and subtracting.
This program requires participation each day Monday through Friday. There is no "part time" option at this time.
